Moreinu V'Rabeinu HaRav Alter Chanoch Henoch Leibowitz ztz"l was born in Eastern Europe in 1916. In 1933, his father HaRav Dovid Leibowitz ztz"l established Yeshivas Rabbenu Yisroel Meir HaCohen (Rabbinical Seminary of America) in New York City, in memory of his great uncle, the sainted Chofetz Chaim ztz"l. Tragically, Reb Dovid died in 1941 at a young age, leaving his only son to take over the yeshiva at the tender age of 26. Under the leadership of Rabbi Henoch Leibowitz, the small yeshiva grew to a major Torah institution with branches and affiliates all across North America and Israel. Congregation Kehillas Torah is proud to be one of those affiliates.

Rav Moshe Feinstein ztz"l

HaRav Dovid Feinstein shlit"a was born in Eastern Europe. He came to America as a youth with his father HaRav Moshe Feinstein ztz"l. Reb Moshe held the position of Dean of Mesivta Tiferes Jerusalem in New York City, for 50 years, till his passing in 1986. Rabbi Dovid Feinstein took over the yeshiva in 1986 and has emerged as the foremost Posek (decisor of Jewish Law) of America. HaRav Michel Berenbaum joined the Yeshiva during the tenure of Reb Moshe as Mashgiach Ruchani (Spiritual Dean). He has inspired and instructed generations of Rabbinical students and continues to do so. Rabbi Baruch Lederman earned Rabbinic Ordination (Yoreh Yoreh) from Mesivta Tiferes Jerusalem in 1990.
